Carbon off-setting

Harry the Hyrax ‘Flying back and forth between London and Sharm’ uses about two tonnes of CO2 per person, which, if we must travel, needs to be offset in some way. As part of Icon Adventures Responsible Tourism Policy, we strongly encourage our clients to add the airline’s own carbon off-set option when they book their flights or seek an alternative of their choice if they can...In addition, Icon Adventures promises to further offset each client’s flight by donating to a specific ecological project based in the area we will be visiting.

Passports:

Travellers to Egypt are required to have a full passport valid for a further 6 months beyond date of travel. Egypt is a military state and foreign tourists are advised to carry their passport with them at all times, especially when travelling/on the road.

Important Note re Visas:

A ‘Sinai only’ visa is specifically required for the Icon Adventures holiday – and must be obtained on arrival at Sharm El Sheikh airport. The ‘Sinai only’ visa is free – and stamped in passports at Passport Control. (N.B. For those travelling out of Southern Sinai to the north, Cairo etc – a $15 visa is required and can be easily bought before/at Passport Control.)

Insurance & Health:

Please ensure you have adequate, up-to-date insurance cover and have checked in advance with your GP regarding travel vaccinations/boosters. Insect repellant is a good idea for use in the evening - and of course sun-block/sun screen, hats etc. (N.B. The Sinai region is not regarded as a region of malarial risk – due to very little stagnant water. The only high-risk malarial region in Egypt is a long way from Sinai, in the Fayoum governorate, west of the Nile/south of Cairo). For further information, visit the World Health Organisation’s pages for the Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office: www.emro.who.int

All Icon Adventures activities are undertaken at the individual’s own risk. Please contact us if you have any queries about the physicality of the itinerary.

Safety: Security issues and the safety of tourists are taken very seriously in the Southern Sinai and there is a visible presence of tourist police, et al. Icon Adventures monitors and abides by the UK government’s advice from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) regarding safety and international situations.
